Can a mobile RPG respect your time?
RPGs and mobile phones have an awkward relationship. The genre wants long sessions, and phones give you scattered minutes. I spent a couple of weeks with Ember Crown Saga to see if a proper RPG could survive that.
It mostly can. The turn-based battles let you stop between fights without losing anything, and the auto-battle option handles easy encounters so you can save your brain for the tricky ones. That balance kept me coming back.
The party-building is where I lost the most time in a good way. Rebuilding my team's skill trees felt like solving a puzzle, and I could do it in short bursts while waiting for a kettle to boil.
The mid-game grind is real, so my advice is to lean on side quests for a change of pace when the main story starts asking for more levels. Do that and it holds up better than most.
