The best mobile racers if you hate tilt steering

August 2, 2026 · Katarina Novak

Not everyone wants to twist their phone like a steering wheel on a crowded train. I don't either, most of the time. So I rounded up the arcade racers that give you proper on-screen controls and make them feel good.

Neon Driftline leads the pack for me. Its touch steering is responsive enough that I never missed the tilt option, and the drift button gives you exactly the control you want in a tight corner. It is the one I keep reinstalling.

When picking a racer, watch out for games that bury the control settings or force tilt as the default with no clear toggle. A quick check in the options menu before your first race saves a lot of frustration.

The short version: good touch controls exist, you just have to look. Try a game for one full race before you judge the steering, because the first thirty seconds always feel awkward.
